Curriculum Vitae

Mathilde Cebul was born in Vienna as the legitimate daughter of Anton Cebul and Mathilde, née Zobel. After primary and secondary school, she worked as a magazine assistant and seamstress.

At the age of 15, Mathilde Cebul was already active in Catholic girls' associations and women's organizations. She is also involved in the Catholic People's Association, the Christian Social Workers' Association, the Christian Social Party and Caritas. Finally, she is also a member of the Alt Österreich association, an organization close to the legitimist student associations, e.g. the Ottonen student association.

On 12 March 1938, the devout Catholic and staunch Austrian witnesses the fall of free and independent Austria.

In autumn 1939, Mathilde Cebul is recruited by her acquaintance Leopold Eichinger for the Illegal Austrian Imperial Loyal Front (IÖKF). She recruits eight more people and collects donations for the organization. Around Whitsun 1942, she receives ten flyers from Leopold Eichinger for the Mitteilungsblätter der Österreichischen Freiheitsbewegung and passes them on to members and sympathizers she has recruited. She is also involved in leaflet distribution campaigns organized by Leopold Hof and Leopold Eichinger. Around New Year 1942, Leopold Hof appoints Mathilde Cebul as district women's welfare officer and welfare worker for the 14th district of Vienna.

She spent her imprisonment in the Vienna-Rossauerlände police prison, the Vienna Regional Court I, the Vienna-Schiffamtsstraße prison and the Jauer prison.

In the Vienna Regional Court I, Mathilde Cabal experienced the liberation of Austria at the age of 64 and regained her freedom on May 6, 1945. In the newly established Austria, she worked again as a magazine clerk before retiring.
