Illegal Austrian Imperial Loyal Front Illegale Österreichische Kaisertreue Front

The gardener's assistant Leopold Hof and the shoemaker's assistant Leopold Eichinger founded the Illegal Austrian Imperial Loyal Front (IÖKF) in 1939. The aim of the organization was to overthrow the National Socialist regime and re-establish the monarchy under Otto von Habsburg-Lothringen or another monarch on the territory of present-day Austria.

Members were actively recruited, membership lists kept and donations collected. The resistance group produced leaflets that were distributed in the various districts.

Slogans on the leaflets included:

We have been and will be back!

Away with the Htiler regime!

Against brown rule!

I.Ö.K.F. for a free Austria!

Even if the Nazis kill us, we call Götz von Berlichingen!

Front and homeland, you are fighting for a fool!

Hitler's work: war, hunger, enslavement of the people!

In the spring of 1940, the IÖKF published its own newsletter in which the National Socialists were described as bloodsuckers and tyrants. The newsletter ended with the words:

Are you Austrian?

Do you love your fatherland?

To us, with us, for a free and independent Austria!

50 of these were produced and distributed.

In September 1942, the resistance group, which comprised around 80 members, was exposed.

The members included:

Mathilde Cebul, Eduard Csermak, Leopold Eichinger, Leopold Hof
