Curriculum Vitae

Edwin Grabherr graduated from high school in Bregenz in 1921 and went on to study medicine at the universities of Graz, Vienna and Innsbruck. In 1921 he was accepted into the Rabenberg secondary school in Graz. In 1927, he was awarded a doctorate in medicine and from July worked at the Lower Austrian state sanatorium and nursing home in Mauer-Öhling, ultimately as head of the women's department. On August 1, 1937, he became the primary physician and director of the Vienna Sanatorium and Nursing Home in Ybbs (Lower Austria). In Ybbs, he was also appointed head of the VF in December 1937.

After the occupation of Austria, he was initially granted leave of absence as primary physician and director and was arrested by the NSDAP local group in Ybbs for three and a half days on March 25, 1938 and then placed under house arrest for three weeks. He was arrested again on July 1, 1938 and deported to Dachau concentration camp on September 5, 1938. Toni Grabherr, a younger brother and local leader of the NSDAP in Hörbranz, initially intervened unsuccessfully on his behalf with Heinrich Himmler and Adolf Hitler. As part of the amnesty on March 13, 1939, Edwin Grabherr was released from Dachau concentration camp. His brother Toni then applies to join the NSDAP, which is granted (admission: April 1, 1940, member no. 7582797). On the other hand, the district leader of the place of residence (Vienna XVI) applies for party court proceedings against Edwin Grabherr. In a ruling by the Vienna VIII District Court on September 14, 1944, the dismissal of Edwin Grabherr from the NSDAP is then applied for. The dismissal took place on November 7, 1944.
