Curriculum Vitae

Felix Romanik held a professorship at the TGM before 1938 and was a lecturer at the University of World Trade in Vienna. After the Nazi takeover, he is removed from the civil service as politically unreliable.

In the fall of 1938, he joins forces with his fellow members Max Gererstorfer and Hans Dorrek in the resistance group led by world trade professor Karl Meithner. This conservative group of academics worked together with the Communist group led by KP district chairman Paul Antl. Donations are collected for Nazi victims and attempts to get friends released from concentration camps are partially successful. At the turn of the year 1939/40, the "Gruppe Meithner" is exposed. Felix Romanik was not discovered, however, as he had joined the Wehrmacht in the meantime. He was promoted to war administration inspector, but was later demoted again due to contacts with Croatian resistance circles and transferred to Silesia. There he comes into contact with French prisoners of war and Polish civilian workers, whose escape preparations he supports. A disciplinary investigation against him is quashed, but he is demoted again and transferred to the Waffen SS in Graz in October 1944. Here he conspired in the Luftgau and military district XVII and remained undetected. He reconnects with his brother Max Gererstorfer, and both conspire in the Luftgau and military district XVII undetected.
