Curriculum Vitae

Franciszek Przymbor was born in Upper Silesia. He later joins the Franciscan order and takes the name Georg Czembor.

During his studies, he comes to Salzburg and joins the student fraternity Unitas-Juvavia. After his ordination to the priesthood, he initially worked as a philosophy professor in Poland before being taken prisoner of war after the German troops invaded Poland and sentenced to two years of forced labor. He was then transferred to Dachau concentration camp on May 25, 1940 and from there to Mauthausen concentration camp-Gusen on August 2, 1940.

After his release, he was drafted into the Afrika Korps. Here he was taken prisoner of war by the British, where he served as a chaplain in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and made it to the rank of major during his five years of service.
