Julius Hantich was born in Prague, the son of a bank clerk. After elementary school, he attended a commercial academy, where he graduated. In 1903, he volunteered for a year in the military infantry battalion no. 22 and was discharged as a lieutenant in the reserve.
In 1905, he began working at the central bank of the German savings bank and in 1907 at the Austrian National Bank in the Linz branch. He marries, but the marriage remains childless.
On July 15, 1938, Julius Hantich was deported to the Dachau concentration camp. After suffering from severe pneumonia, he was released on April 22, 1939. He then settles in Vienna and lives on a small pension. In 1943, he married Anna Neschwera; this marriage also remained childless.
In April and May 1945, Julius Hantich witnessed the liberation of Austria and the re-establishment of the Republic. He retired due to his age. He joins the newly founded Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and the ÖVP-Kameradschaft der politisch Verfolgten und Bekenner für Österreich.
Julius Hantich died in Vienna at the age of 76 and was laid to rest at the cemetery in Vienna-Hernals.
