Curriculum Vitae
Ludwig Willibald Martin Grimmer was born in Vienna, the legitimate son of security guard Theodor Grimmer and his wife Amalia Anastasia, née Rappel. After school, he became a commercial clerk. In 1922, he married Sofie Hausner and subsequently became the father of a daughter and a son.
The patriotic Austrian became involved in the Vienna Heimatschutz and, from 1934, in the Vaterländische Front. In the same year, he began his service as an employee of the Austrian National Bank.
On March 12, 1938, Ludwig Grimmer witnessed the demise of a free and independent Austria with the invasion of the German Wehrmacht. On the very day Austria was occupied, SA men occupied the Austrian National Bank in order to secure its considerable gold reserves. The management of the Austrian National Bank, which was now affiliated to the German Reichsbank, was replaced and the employees were taken over for the time being.

As a result, Ludwig Grimmer was immediately arrested by the Gestapo and dismissed from his job. Although he was only in custody for two days, he was severely mistreated. Most of his teeth were knocked out and he was seriously injured in the head. He was finally released from prison on November 18, 1938.
In December 1938, Ludwig Grimmer was forcibly assigned to the Reichspost, but was dismissed from the service again in 1940 due to 'political unreliability'. He then worked for the Kugler company at Hoher Markt. In 1943, his son was killed in the war.
In April and May 1945, Ludwig Grimmer witnessed the liberation of Austria and the re-establishment of the Republic. After the war, he was unemployed until his retirement. He joins the newly founded Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and the ÖVP-Kameradschaft der politisch Verfolgten und Bekenner für Österreich.
Ludwig Grimmer died at the age of 76 in Vienna and found his final resting place at the cemetery in Vienna Southwest.
