Curriculum Vitae

Josef Feichtner attended the Franciscan grammar school in Hall/Tyrol and joined the secondary school fraternity Sternkorona Hall in 1908. After graduating from high school, he studied philosophy and theology in Innsbruck and was ordained a priest in Salzburg after completing his studies in 1913. From 1933 to 1941, he worked as a priest in Stumm in the Zillertal valley.

From 1941 to 1946, he worked as dean in Reith near Brixlegg. From December 18, 1940 to January 6, 1941, he was imprisoned in the police prison in Innsbruck. During this time, as Gauleiter Franz Hofer (1902-1975) wrote in a letter to Archbishop Andreas Rohracher of Salzburg (1943-1969), he "received several unpleasant political notices". Dean Josef Feichtner was therefore "banned from school", he was also no longer allowed to hold religious education classes, and he was also forbidden from teaching First Communion.

Archbishop Rohracher appointed Josef Feichtner to the cathedral chapter in 1946. As a cathedral chaplain, he is dean general for the Tyrolean part of the archdiocese of Salzburg. From 1949 to 1963 he held the office of cathedral pastor in Salzburg. In 1961, he was appointed Papal House Prelate.
