Greater Austrian freedom movement Großösterreichische Freiheitsbewegung

The Greater Austrian Freedom Movement was founded by Jacob Kastelic shortly after the occupation of Austria by Hitler's Germany. Jacob Kastelic sought contact with like-minded people, but also with former political opponents. He received significant support from the social democratic journalist Johann Schwendenwein and the conservative writer Karl Rössel-Majdan in setting up the movement. An executive committee with him as chairman acted as the leadership.

The aim of the group is to establish a Danube federation including Bavaria with the participation of the House of Habsburg. The group also drew up a cabinet list in the event of a successful takeover, according to the indictment against Jakob Kastelic in 1943, in which he was named Minister of Justice.

The group establishes contact with the resistance groups of the "Austrian Freedom Movement" around the Augustinian canon Roman Karl Scholz and the tax official Karl Lederer.
