Marienanstalt FDC

The Marienanstalt is located at Fasangasse 4, Mechelgasse and Jacquingasse in Vienna's 3rd district. It is the first branch of the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Charity (FDC). From the very beginning, the mission of this congregation was to provide vocational training and education for girls, initially focusing only on so-called "wandering girls" to protect them from exploitation and sexual abuse.

The clientele for these schools grew very quickly due to requests from middle-class families who wanted their daughters to be educated and taught there. At the same time, street children and orphans also came to the school.
