Kalksburg College
Kollegium Kalksburg, also known as Collegium Immaculatae Virginis, is a private Roman Catholic school with public rights in Vienna's 23rd district of Liesing.
The Mon Pérou Palace, built in the 18th century, stood on the site of the college building. It was the country residence of Princess Carolina von Trautson, a lady-in-waiting to Maria Theresa, and was acquired in 1791 by court jeweler Franz von Mack, who had the landscaped garden around the palace laid out, which still exists today. The Jesuits acquired the palace in 1856 from August Godeffroy, the husband of one of Franz von Mack's granddaughters. The transaction was financially supported by Emperor Franz Joseph.
The main building of the college was built in stages and partly on the foundations of Mon Pérou Castle. On October 3, 1856, Cardinal Joseph Othmar von Rauscher consecrated the current lower part of the patristic wing to the Immaculate Conception, which had been proclaimed as a Roman Catholic dogma shortly before.
