Redemptorist monastery Oberpullendorf

In 1935, two members of the Redemptorist order from Vienna came to Burgenland  and discovered Oberpullendorf as the ideal location for a monastery. The Klemens Maria Hofbauer Church was built in the same year. Oberpullendorf was elevated to an independent parish in 1949.

At the turn of the millennium, the monastery was handed over from the Vienna Province to the Warsaw Province due to a lack of staff, which agreed to send religious to Oberpullendorf. In 2015, the monastery and church, including the garden, were sold to the Diocese of Eisenstadt, as the Warsaw Province decided to withdraw from Oberpullendorf in summer 2016.
