Curriculum Vitae
Guido Victor Walter Josef Engelbrecht was born in Vienna, the legitimate son of railroad official Anton Engelbrecht and Hermine, née Hohl. Na
As a member of the resistance group Freies Österreich/Gruppe Karl Gruber (FÖ), he receives pamphlets such as the magazine Freies Östereich-Blätter für Friede, Freiheit und Fortschritt, recruits two new members and pays membership fees. He was later drafted into the Wehrmacht again.
In the early fall of 1944, the resistance group was discovered and Guido Engelbrecht was arrested by the Gestapo on December 5, 1944 at his troop unit in Prague and transferred to the Wehrmacht remand prison in Vienna. He is investigated by the People's Court for 'preparation for high treason'. Only the defeat of the Third Reich saved the members from a trial and the death penalty.
Guido Engelbrecht was released from prison on May 5, 1945 and returned to work for the Postal and Telegraph Administration. He joins the newly founded Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and the ÖVP-Kameradschaft der politisch Verfolgten und Bekenner für Österreich. He married a second time in 1949, but this marriage also fell apart.
