Curriculum Vitae

In 1927, Alfred Benn was one of the co-founders of the K. d. St. V. Bards in Vienna. After graduating from secondary school in Vienna 15, he began studying to become a teacher of mathematics and physics in 1929, which he successfully completed in February 1935 with a teaching diploma in these subjects. In 1929 he was accepted into the Norica student fraternity. On June 29, 1933, "Kreis IV (Austria)" of the CV is constituted in Vienna, with Alfred Benn becoming its suburban president. Together with the I. VOS Heinz Prunkner, he informs the CV suburb Aenania in Munich on July 11, 1933 that the Austrian CV fraternities have separated from the CV with effect from July 10, 1933 due to the political developments in the German Reich and have founded their own association for Austria, the ÖCV. Alfred Benn was then elected as the first VOP (1933-1935) of the ÖCV after the "letter of secession" to the CV and received the Vindelicia ribbon on 12.1.1934.

From 1.4.1935 to 15.2.1936, he completed his probationary period as a teacher and was then employed as an assistant teacher at the Bundesgymnasium in Vienna 6 with full teaching duties. Immediately after the Anschluss, he was taken into protective custody on March 14, 1938 and dismissed from the teaching profession on political grounds. Together with Johannes Hollensteiner, he is transferred to Dachau concentration camp on May 24, 1938. On September 20, 1939, he was released from the concentration camp at the same time as Erich Pultar, Ferdinand Thaller, Julius Kallus, Anton Pilat and Emmerich Zederbauer, the former rector of the University of World Trade.
