Curriculum Vitae

In addition to his membership of the Tegetthoff secondary school fraternity and the Maximiliana student fraternity, Gustav Szabo von Monte-Belvedere is the district leader of the monarchist youth organization "Schwarz-gelbe Aktion".

On 14 April 1938, the Gestapo break into his apartment and arrest him. During interrogation in the police prison, he was asked in particular about the names of Maximiliana's members. However, Gustav Szabo von Monte-Belvedere only mentions those members of the League who he knows are already under arrest. On July 15, 1938, he was transferred to Dachau concentration camp, where he remained until December 16, 1938. After his release, he had to report to the Gestapo every day. On January 10, 1940, he was drafted into the air force and remained there until the end of the war.

After the war, he founded a small printing company. Motivated by a concentration camp friendship, he joins the SPÖ in 1945, is a member of the Kinderfreunde and the Bund Sozialistischer (now Social Democratic) Freiheitskämpfer.
