Curriculum Vitae

Leopold Bien is involved in the founding of Donaumark. Before 1938, he was a functionary in the VF. After the Anschluss, on March 12, 1938, an SA squad led by an "illegal" he had tracked down and convicted of an explosives plot stormed his home in Castellezgassen2 in Vienna. Leopold Bien tried to flee from the fanatical National Socialists - obviously in panic - but fell from the window of his apartment on the fourth floor and died of his injuries a few days later.

(There are different versions of the date of death: In the death register of the parish of St. Leopold, the only official document, the date of death is recorded as 12.3.1938; cause of death: "According to inspection slip no. 9312: suicide by falling into the depths")
