Curriculum Vitae

Hans Schipper attended grammar school in Vienna XII and joined the Herulia Vienna secondary school fraternity in 1929. After graduating from high school in 1931, he began studying at the Faculty of Law at Vienna University and joined the Kürnberg student fraternity in 1931. After obtaining his doctorate in law in 1936, he entered the service of the City of Vienna.

After the Anschluss, he was dismissed from the civil service and initially worked as an insurance agent until he was drafted into the German army (last rank: non-commissioned officer). From December 1, 1939, he was a member of the Austrian Freedom Movement around Roman Scholz and Dr. Karl Lederer. After the dissolution of the resistance group, he was remanded in custody for three weeks at the court of Division No. 487 in Linz (military district XVII) on the charge of "preparation for high treason", but the proceedings were suspended until the end of the war.
