Curriculum Vitae

Georg Giglmayr is a priest in Oberndorf/Tyrol and from 1926 is diocesan president of the Catholic youth. As a promoter of Catholic secondary school fraternities, he was gradually awarded the Almgau, Bajuvaria (now Hohensalzburg), Langobardia (now Ivaria) and Austro-Germania (not in the MKV) Catholic German fraternity ribbons.

On March 12, 1938, he was arrested, having also become president of the Salzburg Kolping House. The fact that his arrest was carried out by two "illegal" SS men - members of the Austro-Germanen - is particularly tragic. After a brief detention, he was banned from the district and transferred to Mayrhofen in the Zillertal valley as a pastor until August 1939. From September 9, 1939, he was provisional pastor and parish priest of Oberndorf in Tyrol.
