Curriculum Vitae

Viktor Kollars was born in Graz in 1897 and joined the gendarmerie in 1918. He studied to become a teacher of gymnastics and history in Graz and passed his teaching examination in gymnastics in 1927. In 1938 he received his doctorate in philosophy. In 1930, he was a founding member of the Norica Graz student fraternity.

At the same time, from April 1934 to April 1937, he was a member of the Styrian provincial governments under Alois Dienstleder (until 1934) and Karl Maria Stepan, where he held the position of Secretary General of the "Österreichisches Turn- und Sportkollegium". He is also active as a functionary in the Vaterländische Front. In 1936, he was appointed specialist inspector for gymnastics and lecturer for methodical exercises at the University of Graz.

After the invasion of the German Wehrmacht in 1938, he was dismissed as a teacher. He had to work as a cab driver until the end of the war in order to support his family.

After the war, he became a sports official at the Christian Social Gymnastics and Sports Union and a civil servant in the Sports Section of the Ministry of Education, where he was appointed head of the National Education Section in 1959.
