Curriculum Vitae

Hans Maurer began studying law in Vienna and joined the Norica student fraternity in 1907. He broke off his studies after two state examinations. From September 1913, he worked as an editor and took over the editorship of the daily newspaper "Reichspost".

After the Anschluss, he was granted leave of absence on March 15, 1938 and dismissed without severance pay on June 1, 1938. According to his own statements, he was taken into protective custody in the police prison in Vienna 9 from March 17, 1938 to May 8, 1938. His house was searched. After his release, he took over his father's farm in Gleisdorf (Styria). From August 25, 1944 to August 31, 1944, he was again detained by the Gestapo in Graz. He then spent nine weeks working on the Sava and was drafted into the Volkssturm.
