Curriculum Vitae
Klara Autěch was born in Vienna as the illegitimate daughter of leather goods salesman Franz Fürst and Theresia Autěch. She has a twin sister. After elementary school, she attended a secondary school. In 1911, Franz Fürst married Klara Autěch and recognized the children, which is why they also took the surname Fürst.
In 1915, Klara Fürst joined the Austrian Postal and Telegraph Administration in Vienna and subsequently became involved in the Christian union. After 1933, the Christian trade union became part of the Vaterländische Front, which vigorously fought against National Socialism.
On March 12, 1938, Klara Fürst witnessed the demise of free and independent Austria with the invasion of the German Wehrmacht. On March 31, 1939, Klara Fürst was forced to retire due to her opposition to National Socialism. She had to live on a pension until May 16, 1941, after which she became a war auxiliary employee (TOA) in the Wehrmacht.
In April and May 1945, Klara Fürst witnessed the liberation of occupied Austria and the re-establishment of the Republic. She was rehabilitated and began working again in the postal and telegraph administration, but retired soon afterwards due to her age. She joins the newly founded Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and the ÖVP-Kameradschaft der politisch Verfolgten und Bekenner für Österreich.
Klara Fürst died unmarried and childless at the age of 81 in Lilienfeld in Lower Austria.
