Curriculum Vitae

After three years at secondary school, Anton Matyas from Tulln attended the teacher training college (LBA) in St. Pölten, where he graduated with distinction in 1922. In February 1920, he joined the Aggstein St. Pölten secondary school fraternity. After the LBA, he first became a home educator in Neudorf in Burgenland, then a primary school teacher in St. Pölten and from 1928 in Höftein an der Donau. He passed the secondary school teacher examination and worked at the schools in Absdorf and finally, from 1933, at the boys' school in Tulln. During this time, he was also a co-founder of the Comagena secondary school fraternity in Tulln.

After the Anschluss in 1938, he was taken into protective custody due to his conspicuous Austrian sentiments and subsequently suffered numerous humiliations and deprivations.
