Curriculum Vitae

Hans Kresbach was born as the son of Emmerich Kresbach senior, who later became a grammar school director in Graz, and attended the Akademisches Gymnasium in Graz. After graduating from high school in 1941, he began studying at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Graz (Dr. med. in early 1949). There he joined the "illegal" and underground student fraternity Carolina on June 3, 1941. He was one of the twelve Carolinians, or 72 CVers, who had the courage to remain "loyal to God and country" during the Nazi era. At the beginning of his studies, he was also called up to the Graz student company, which consisted mainly of medical students. There he became a medical corporal and, alongside his studies, was deployed to the Saalfelden mountain medical unit and the Lübben (Brandenburg) military hospital.

After the war, Hans Kresbach continued his studies. After completing his studies and working at the Institute of Pharmacology, the Wagna State Hospital near Leibnitz and the Medical Clinic in Graz, he joined the Department of Dermatology at the University of Graz on September 1, 1950. He began his scientific career there and from 1953 headed the allergy testing station, among other things. In March 1960, he habilitated and was awarded the title of associate university professor in 1968.
