Curriculum Vitae
Karl Bruckner attended the Petrinum College and the state grammar school in Linz. After graduating from high school, he was drafted into military service as a year-old and deployed to the Eastern Front (ultimately as a lieutenant), where he was also wounded near Lublin.
After the First World War, Karl Bruckner attended the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. He joined the Norica student fraternity in 1918. In 1922, he completed his studies with a diploma and became a teacher at agricultural colleges. He was a functionary of the Christian Social Party and later of the VF.
On March 13, 1938, he was arrested by the Nazis and detained until April 7, 1938. He was relieved of his duties and arrested again a short time later on August 20, 1938. After a brief stay in the police prison, he was sent to Dachau concentration camp on November 18, 1938, where he remained imprisoned until April 20, 1944 - in the meantime, he was transferred to Flossenbürg concentration camp from September 27, 1939 to March 2, 1940. After his release, he worked for the Donauland Provincial Farmers' Association until the end of the war.
