Curriculum Vitae

Eugen Chavanne joined the civil service of the political administration in Upper Austria in 1905. During the First World War, he was district commissioner in Traun, where he was responsible for food supplies. Due to his services during the war, the municipality made him an honorary citizen.

After the First World War, he worked in the Ministry of the Interior, then moved to the Presidium of the Federal Chancellery from 1923 and became its Executive Board and Presidential Head in 1934.

After the Anschluss, he was arrested and, after a spell in police prison, sent to Dachau concentration camp, where he remained until the end of the war.

After the war, Eugen Chavanne became Section Head for Public Buildings, Transitional Economy and Reconstruction at the Federal Ministry of Trade and Reconstruction until his retirement in 1949.
