Curriculum Vitae

Eduard Weiser graduated from high school in Graz in 1906 and began studying philosophy there. After the 3rd semester, he entered the Cistercian monastery Maria Rein near Graz as a novice and was given the religious name Norbert. He then went to Innsbruck to study theology and lived there in the Canisianum. After completing his ordination, he resigned from the order and left Innsbruck. In 1910, he began studying law in Vienna, which he completed in 1914 with a doctorate in law. In addition to his studies, he worked as an instructor at the Jesuit College in Kalksburg to earn a living. During the First World War, he then underwent professional legal training at the regional court in Vienna and as a trainee clerk in Troppau [now Opava] and Feldkirch, where he also worked as an instructor at "Stella Matutina".

In 1918, he married Johanna Gissinger. He worked as a concessionaire at the General Directorate of the Austrian Tobacco Directorate in Vienna until 1920 and then moved to the Federal Ministry of Finance until 1933. In 1933 he was appointed President of the FLD Innsbruck, in 1935 he moved to the FLD Graz as President. He was already a tax official when he joined the Austria Wien student fraternity in 1927. During his service in Innsbruck from 1933 to 1935, he also came into contact with the local student fraternities and became a member of Austria Innsbruck and Leopoldina Innsbruck.

After the Anschluss, Eduard Weiser was arrested on March 13, 1938, imprisoned in the police prison in Graz until March 19, 1938 and granted leave "until further notice". From April 20, 1938 to September 24, 1938, he was arrested again in the presidential office in Vienna. On September 25, 1938, he was transferred to the Buchenwald concentration camp [Strafkommando "Ulla"] until October 25, 1939. After his release there, he was first sent to the Graz Regional Court as a prisoner and then transferred to Vienna. On November 2, 1938, the proceedings against him ended with his immediate dismissal from the civil service without the award of a pension. The order could not be served because he was in a concentration camp. His wife Johanna is only granted a maintenance allowance after the receipt is received at the beginning of December. Eduard Weiser's son Hermann shows particular bravery during the war and is able to secure his father's release from prison on December 23, 1939 through his superiors. His son was killed in action in the Crimea on June 24, 1942. From 1940 until the end of the war, Eduard Weiser initially worked on a voluntary basis at the municipal library and the tax office in Feldkirch and was then employed as a clerk in the legal department of Dr. Alexander Wacker, Munich.
