Curriculum Vitae

Hannes Krasser was born the son of the lawyer Emil Krasser. His mother is Friederike, née Wild, a daughter of the delicatessen merchant and imperial and royal purveyor to the court Dominik Wild, who runs the company Gebrüder Wild together with his brother Joseph Wild (F-B EM).

After elementary school at the Schulbrüder in Vienna-Fünfhaus (Gebrüder-Lang-Gasse), Krasser graduates from grammar school in Vienna-Mariahilf (Amerlingstraße) in 1939. He then joined the Reich Labor Service in order to meet the admission requirements for university studies. In the fall of 1939, he began his studies at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Vienna (Dr. iur. 1946). On January 15, 1940, he joined the "illegal" underground student fraternity Norica. This makes him one of the 72 documented CV members who joined an Austrian CV fraternity during the Nazi era.

At the end of April 1941, Hannes Krasser was admitted as a court clerk, but was already drafted into the German Wehrmacht on May 1, 1941 (Medical Replacement Division XVII Vienna). In 1942 he was transferred to Linz. There he was able to take acting lessons at the Linz State Theater and pass the relevant examinations in May 1944 (aptitude tests I and II). At the end of the war, he was taken prisoner of war by the US as a medical sergeant in Linz and was able to return to Vienna by adventurous means at the end of August 1945.
