Curriculum Vitae

Josef Pöschl attended the Franciscan grammar school in Hall/Tyrol and was accepted into the Sternkorona Hall secondary school fraternity in 1919. His professional career took him into the postal service. He is a member of the monarchist movement. He was also involved in the church life of his parish in Innsbruck-Amras, where he was also a parish councillor during the Nazi era.

These two reasons led him to reject Nazi ideology. This was probably also the reason why he joined the "Post" resistance group formed among postal workers in Innsbruck in 1943, in which Carl Hirnschrott took over the leadership in April 1945. As part of the resistance organization in Innsbruck, the group was given the task of setting up a monitoring service, relaying long-distance calls via official lines and protecting the valuable telecommunications equipment from destruction by the Wehrmacht and the SS when the American units approached. Josef Pöschl is primarily responsible for switching long-distance calls and monitoring calls.
