Curriculum Vitae
In the fall of 1937, Anton von Lang founded the monarchist-oriented secondary school fraternity Austria Linz out of the secondary school fraternity Welfia Linz as a sign against the increasing National Socialist pressure. After graduating from high school, he studied world trade at the University of Vienna, but is said not to have completed his studies. In 1937, he was accepted into the Saxo-Bavaria Prague student fraternity in Vienna.
As a result of the events of the Anschluss, both Welfia and Austria Linz were banned and dissolved. Anton von Lang nevertheless tries to maintain the fraternity under the new name Austro-Welfia. To avoid being exposed, they have to change their quarters several times. Under the direction of Anton von Lang, the Austro-Welfs found a church choir in St. Margarethen for the Calvary Church in Linz, which soon gains great recognition. Only selected people are accepted as members of the choir to prevent exposure. As many members were drafted into the German army in the meantime, the choir disbanded after 1939.
Anton von Lang was initially deemed unfit for military service as a student. He tried to keep the fraternity going and, thanks to his great commitment, the fraternity lived on "on a low flame" until 1944. The Gestapo suspected his activities.
In March 1938, he was sent to the police prison in Linz for 16 weeks. He was then placed under Gestapo surveillance for six months. During a house search, the Welfia's wankers and clubs were found and confiscated. He then enlisted in the German Wehrmacht and was wounded five times.
