Austrian Democratic Resistance Movement Demokratische Widerstandsbewegung Österreichs

The Austrian Democratic Resistance Movement was founded in 1944 by the later Austrian Foreign Minister Karl Gruber, member of the K.Ö.St.V. Vindobona II and K.Ö.St.V. Austria Wien and had its origins in a group consisting partly of doctors and medical students. At the beginning of 1942, this group was able to establish a secret cell in the city command of the Wehrmacht in Vienna, which aimed to help Austrian soldiers in the Wehrmacht.

In the course of 1942, contact was made with Karl Gruber, who was working at Telefunken AG in Berlin at the time and was in contact with resistance circles around Carl Goerdeler and had foreign contacts with the OSS. At the beginning of April 1945, the Austrian Democratic Resistance Movement took part in the actions led by Major Carl Szokoll together with the O5.
