Redemptorist College Katzelsdorf
The monastery with the monastery church "Maria of Perpetual Help" of the Redemptorists in the municipality of Katzelsdorf in the district of Wiener Neustadt-Land in Lower Austria is a listed building.
Countess Maria Theresia Chambord established the Redemptorists in the Franciscan monastery in Katzelsdorf, which was abandoned in 1783. On November 4, 1856, Count Ludwig von Coudenhove acquired the dilapidated monastery for 25,000 guilders while retaining the Countess's right of ownership.
On January 11, 1857, the Redemptorists took over the building and began clearing up and making the necessary adaptations for a future novitiate house. Initially, the Anna Chapel and St. Alphonsus Chapel were refurbished. On September 29, 1857, Provincial Adam Mangold consecrated the monastery and the chapels and moved in. The novice master Father Hřebaczka moved his novices from the Redemptorist College in Puchheim to Katzelsdorf and the first novices were clothed on February 15, 1858.
