Curriculum Vitae

Antonia Winter was born in Vienna Penzing in 1907, the daughter of master smith Anton Ferdinand Winter. She graduated from the Federal Teacher Training College in Vienna I in 1926. She then enrolled in German and history at the University of Vienna. During this time, she joined the student fraternity Vereinigung katholisch-deutscher Hochschülerinnen Wien.

In 1933, she obtained her doctorate. Her dissertation topic is "Hans Jakob Wagner von Wagenfels and his view of history and the state". A year later, in 1934, she finally passed her teaching exams in German and history and worked as a teacher at various schools.

After the invasion of Austria by the German Wehrmacht, she was transferred from Vienna to Mödling and dismissed in the fall of 1939 due to her anti-Nazi views. She was later reinstated as a teacher, but only on a temporary basis. Her pragmatization as a teacher was forbidden.
