Curriculum Vitae

Otto Lutterotti, knight of Gazzolis and Langenthal, so his full name, is born as the son of a financial officer and visits the Gymnasiums in Mehrerau and Innsbruck. In 1929 he began studying the history of art at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Innsbruck and joined the University of Innsbruck in the same year. He holds a PhD in 1934.

After completing his studies, Otto von Lutterotti is an intern at the Graphische Sammlung der Neuen Pinakothek and the Bavarian National Museum Munich from 1934 to 1936. In 1936 he becomes assistant at the Kunsthistorisches Institut at the University of Graz and in 1938 at the University of Innsbruck, where he can then habilitate in September 1942 for new art history. In 1943 he was dismissed as an assistant for political reasons (because of his Austrian attitude).

After the war, Otto is rehabilitated by Lutterotti and on the 9th November 1945 appointed as the ordinary university professor for art history. He was emeritus in 1979.
