Anton Riccabona, younger brother of Franz Riccabona, graduated from the Bundesgymnasium in Innsbruck in 1933 and then studied law in Innsbruck, where he obtained his doctorate in law in 1937. Here he joined the Austria Innsbruck student fraternity in 1933.
At the time of the Anschluss, he was an official of the students' union and was arrested and detained until the end of April 1938. After completing his law studies, he is drafted into the Wehrmacht. However, his promotion to lieutenant was initially prevented.
