Curriculum Vitae
Ludwig Krausz-Wienner came from an Upper Hungarian family and was born in Vienna. He went to school in Vienna, but interrupted this in 1922 to join the Russian Wrangel Army, which was fighting as part of the White Army in the Russian Civil War against the Communists, through an acquaintance. However, as the Russian Civil War ended immediately afterwards, he was no longer deployed, but returned to school and graduated from the Humanistic Grammar School in 1926. He then enrolled in law and history at the University of Vienna, but later dropped out. During this time, he joined the Ottonen student fraternity.
Ludwig Krausz-Wienner did not pursue a permanent professional career, but carried out occasional commissions, mainly of a genealogical nature, for acquaintances. He later joined the Vienna Heimatschutz and the Vaterländische Front. He works here with Hans Karl Frhr. Zeßner von Spitzenberg.
Ludwig Krausz-Wienner is present at the board meeting of the Ottonians in the back room of Café Votiv on the evening of the occupation of Austria, when they decide to formally disband and join the resistance. He is appointed "police chief" of the legitimist organization within the administrative district of Vienna, Lower and Upper Austria. Krausz-Wienner is a contact for Franz Freiherr Mac Ennis in Bratislava and Karl Fridiger in Prague.
Ludwig Krausz-Wienner is arrested by the Gestapo on October 29, 1938. He is charged with preparation for high treason and sentenced to eight years in prison in the main trial of the People's Court from December 7, 1943 to December 9, 1943. He was transferred from Vienna to Straubing prison in January 1944. From there they were sent on a march on April 25, 1945 due to the approaching American troops. During this march, he was able to escape with two friends in the Freising area and hide until the Americans arrived.
After the war, he worked in the field of historical research. On May 9, 1978, Ludwig Krausz-Wienner founded the association "Die ehemalige Widerstandsgruppe des Corps Ottonen", which existed until May 10, 1985. The association then changed its name to "Alt-Herren-Verband Corps Ottonen". After the death of Chairman Krausz-Wienner, Secretary Joseph Tischler and Treasurer Msgr. Joseph Pinzenöler, the association is dissolved on November 9, 1992 by the son of the last senior, Othmar Burian.
