In the night of March 10-11, 1938, August Rettenbacher and his brothers Franz Finstermann and Heinz Geiger marched through Vienna's VIII district with an Austrian propaganda group of the Fatherland Front (CVers and workers) shouting "Heil Schuschnigg". Vienna's municipal district. In front of the Café Florianihof on the corner of Florianigasse and Fuhrrnannsgasse, there is a clash with members of SS-Standarte 89. The three members of the student fraternity Austria Wien are seriously injured by gunshots and have to be taken to hospital.
