Curriculum Vitae
Johann Heidlmayr attended elementary school and secondary school in Wels. After graduating from high school, he began studying to become a teacher of mathematics and physics at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Vienna in 1929. In 1929, he became a member of the Kürnberg student fraternity.
After the Anschluss, he was arrested as a trainee teacher on March 14, 1938 and imprisoned for 30 days in the police prison in Wels. After his release, the school authorities told him that he was not suitable for the teaching profession, so he began studying high-frequency technology. Because the police in Wels refused to give him a political clearance certificate, he was unable to take up the post he had in mind. In September 1939, he was drafted into the Wehrmacht. He serves in an air intelligence unit; his last rank is non-commissioned officer. He was taken prisoner of war in England and was able to return home at the end of 1945.
