After graduating from high school in Passau, Ludwig Bauer joins the financial service and studies law at the University of Vienna on the side. He joins the Bajuvaria student fraternity in 1932.
After the Anschluss, he spends two weeks in protective custody at the Vienna Regional Court and is released from duty until June 1, 1938. This was followed by his transfer to Krumau an der Moldau/South Bohemia, his doctorate in 1940 and his call-up to the Wehrmacht.
