Curriculum Vitae

Duss was born the son of an official of the garrison court in Graz. He attended secondary school in Knittelfeld, where he co-founded the MKV fraternity Nibelungia. After graduating from high school in 1925, he began studying at the Graz University of Technology, where he joined the Carolina student fraternity. Due to poor career prospects as a technician, he switched to studying to become a teacher of mathematics and descriptive geometry.

After passing his teaching exams, Viktor Duss became a grammar school teacher in Laa/Thaya and later in Graz-Liebenau. Viktor Duss is a member of the Christian-German Gymnastics Association, which is re-founded in 1945 as the Gymnastics and Sports Union (today "Sportunion Österreich").

After the occupation of Austria on March 12, 1938, Viktor Duss is dismissed without notice. He then works as an unskilled laborer and site manager. In 1940, he was drafted into the German Wehrmacht.
