Alexander Karri joined the Rhenania Vienna secondary school fraternity in 1919. Before the Anschluss, he held the office of deputy cartel chairman of the Mittelschüler Kartellverband from 1934 to 1938.
He was part of the group of resisters around his fraternity brother Alfred Unger, who came together in Vienna in May 1938. He was arrested by the Gestapo on November 9, 1939, convicted of § 31 of the Criminal Code and not released until the summer of 1940. After his imprisonment, he worked for Wagner-Biro. In 1943, he was drafted into the Wehrmacht.
