Franz Amann studied medicine in Innsbruck and was admitted to Austria Innsbruck in 1930. In 1938/38 he was a community doctor in Sonntagberg, then in Opponitz. During the interwar period, he was an active anti-National Socialist and was probably imprisoned immediately after the Anschluss as a precautionary measure.
From 1944, he was actively involved in the resistance.
