Curriculum Vitae
Karl Ohnmacht was born the son of a doctor. After eight years of elementary school, he attended the teacher training college in Linz and initially became a primary school teacher in the Innviertel region. Due to his special aptitude, he was sent to the training elementary school of the Episcopal Teachers' Seminary in Linz and at the same time passed the supplementary examination for the university entrance qualification.
Following this, Karl Ohnmacht studied mathematics and physics at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Innsbruck from 1923 (Dr. phil.) and joined the Austria Innsbruck student fraternity in the same year. At the same time, he also studied scholastic philosophy at the Faculty of Theology (Dr. phil. schol.). After completing his studies and passing his teacher training examination, he became a professor of mathematics and education at the Bischöfliches Lehrerseminar (teacher training college) in Linz.
Here, Karl Ohnmacht became involved in the Christian Provincial Teachers' Association for Upper Austria, so that in 1934 he was sent to the Upper Austrian provincial parliament as a representative of the teaching profession, where he remained a member until July 15, 1936. In mid-1936, he was appointed to the Ministry of Education in Vienna, where he worked in the Department of Educational Affairs for Primary and Secondary Schools and Teacher Training.
After the Anschluss in March 1938, Karl Ohnmacht was dismissed and lived in seclusion with his family at his mother-in-law's in Solbad Hall. At the end of 1943, he moved to Enzenkirchen in the Innviertel region. His serious illness saved him from further persecution and imprisonment.
