Curriculum Vitae

Konrad Wieninger was born in Vienna and, after attending elementary and secondary school, learned the 'leather gallantry trade', i.e. the art of making leather accessories. In August 1914, he voluntarily joins the Hoch- und Deutschmeister. He was taken prisoner on the Serbian front at the end of 1914, escaped in 1916 and was seriously injured on the Russian front in the same year.

In the interwar period, he joined the Austrian Home Guard. As Konrad Wieninger was unable to return to work due to his war injury, he received a tobacconist's license as a war invalid in 1937.

We are Austrians, we fought for the Emperor with the bare weapon.

Konrad Weininger on German officers after the occupation of Austria

Through Karl Hans Karasek, Konrad Wieninger joins the Lamberti Circle in autumn 1942, which at this point is already part of the Antifascist Freedom Movement of Austria (AFÖ). From mid-October, he attended the meetings around five to six times and was energetically involved in the discussions.

When the AFÖ was exposed in 1943, Konrad Wieninger was immediately arrested and charged with 'preparation for high treason' in the trial before the People's Court on June 9, 1944. Obviously, he was not convicted. He is released on February 12, 1944.
