Curriculum Vitae

In the fall of 1937, Ignaz Scheier, who came from Lustenau, was appointed chaplain in Hard. "Only for a few more months was he allowed to say what he thought politically in his sermons."

After the Anschluss, schools and kindergartens were no longer permitted for youth work by church groups. Ignaz Scheier had to hold youth classes in the chaplain's house. He is then arrested by the Gestapo and imprisoned in Dornbirn. After his release, he enlisted in the Wehrmacht as a medical orderly. He was later taken into Gestapo custody again in 1941.
