Friedrich Krieger graduated from grammar school in Wiener Neustadt, where he joined the Babenberg Wr. Neustadt secondary school fraternity. After graduating from high school in 1921, he began studying at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Vienna (abs. iur. 1926; Dr. iur. 1930) and joined the Amelungia student fraternity.

After graduating in 1926, Friedrich Krieger completed his year in court and then joined the Vienna Regional Finance Directorate, moving to the Presidency of the Ministry of Finance in 1934. Friedrich Krieger was dismissed in March 1938. After the Second World War, he was rehabilitated and appointed Ministerial Councillor and Head of the Presidium.

In 1948, Krieger was appointed 1st Vice Governor and, on January 1, 1956, Governor of the Austrian Postal Savings Bank (PSK), which was probably the most important banking institution for monetary transactions at the time.
