Curriculum Vitae

Willibald Liehr graduated from the Piaristengymnasium (Vienna-Josefstadt) in 1929 and then began his studies at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Vienna (abs. iur. 1933, Dr. iur. 1934). After completing his studies, he joined the Vienna City Council.

After the Anschluss, he was relieved of his duties and retired on March 19, 1938 in return for severance pay. From April to July 1938, Willibald Liehr was a court trainee at the Commercial Court of Vienna and then worked as a trainee lawyer until January 1939. As he was not admitted to the bar for political reasons, he joined the Vienna Army Construction Office in 1939. In January 1942, he was drafted into the German Wehrmacht and was taken prisoner by the British in April 1945. He was released from captivity in Styria and was immediately provisionally entrusted with the management of the district administration of Radkersburg (Styria).
