Curriculum Vitae

Franz Etz completed his theological studies in Vienna and became a member of the student fraternity Amelungia in 1921. He was ordained a priest in 1925. He then worked as a cooperator (chaplain) in Sitzendorf an der Schmida, Vienna-Lnzersdorf, Vienna-St. Rochus and from 1930 until his retirement in St. Leopold in Vienna II, as well as at various Viennese grammar schools, including as a professor of religion.

He was briefly imprisoned after the Anschluss and dismissed from the teaching profession due to his personal stance and attitude towards National Socialism as well as his activities and membership of the ÖCV. He was only allowed to continue working as a chaplain until 1945. Together with his pastor Dr. Alexander Poch, he is now a point of contact for many people seeking help, including many Jewish fellow citizens.
