Curriculum Vitae

Alois Schöler began studying to become a teacher of history and geography at the University of Graz in 1904 after graduating from grammar school in Graz. He joined the student fraternity Carolina Graz in 1904. In 1909 he passed his teacher training examination and became a grammar school professor in Waidhafen an der Ybbs in 1911. On May 8, 1913, he received his doctorate in philosophy in Graz. In 1926, he was appointed principal of the secondary school in his hometown of Bruck an der Mur and was elected to the Bruck municipal council in 1929.

After the occupation of Austria by Hitler's Germany, he was arrested on March 12, 1938. He remained in protective custody in Bruck and Graz until June 13, 1938. He was then dismissed from his teaching post without notice and was only able to return to his school in Bruck as principal after 1945
