Curriculum Vitae
Karl Krczmar attended the secondary school in Stockerau. There he joined the Herulia secondary school fraternity in 1916. After graduating from high school in 1920, he joined the Jesuit order as a novice. However, as he was unable to achieve his goal of becoming a missionary for health reasons, he left the order again and studied philosophy in Vienna, where he joined the Babenberg student fraternity in 1920. For economic reasons, he had to abandon his studies and did not obtain an academic degree. In 1927, he joined the Lower Austrian provincial service.
In July 1940, he had to enlist in the German Wehrmacht, was a "war administration inspector" in Norway from 01.01.1941 and was then transferred to the Russian front. He kept in touch with the brothers via the field post. Here he helps with the care of the wounded and dying. The SS disapproved of this. His company commander sent him on leave in 1941 and gave him a package for relatives in Vienna. It did not occur to Karl Krczmar that this could also be a trap. During the inspection, he truthfully stated that his company commander had given him this parcel, the contents of which he did not know. When questioned, the officer denies having given the order. The SS then find military underwear, shirts etc. in the parcel. Karl Krczmar is then arrested, transferred to the competent Vienna district court and sentenced to death on March 25, 1942 for "undermining military strength".
Karl Krczmar is shot by summary execution on June 2, 1942.
