Curriculum Vitae

Franz Stangler attended the teacher training college in St. Pölten and joined the Carolina St. Pölten secondary school fraternity in the winter semester of 1925/26.

After graduating from high school, he went into teaching and worked as a primary school teacher in Puchberg am Schneeberg and then in St. Pölten. He is also an official of the Christian German Gymnastics Association [now the Sports Union]. In 1936, he was appointed national youth leader of the Austrian Young People.

After the Anschluss, he was suspended from service and detained in Vienna District Court from March 20, 1938 to June 10, 1938. He was then drafted into military service and taken prisoner by the British.
